I am a member of the Guild of Energists https://goe.ac/and a qualified Master Practitioner of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) but why? Why was this important to me and what made me want to learn this?
EFT also known as tapping or modern energy interested me for two significant reasons;
- it teaches the client a technique they can take away and use anywhere
- it can be used with children aged 3+
What can EFT be used for though? I can help you with many different things using EFT, probably the most frequent issues I use it for are stress and anxiety. However, we can use it to talk and work through whatever you may feel may be causing you to feel ‘stuck’ in your life right now, for example, a phobia, work, a relationship, pain, tiredness or sleep.
EFT works by tapping on the 14 Meridien points in the body and tapping away what you don’t want in your life before switching to the more positive energy to make you feel good. Some of my favorite positives are wanting more calm, fun, joy or health but it is whatever is personal to you. EFT is client led in the same way a hypnotherapy session with me is. The idea is you move from a blocked energy flow to healthy energy flow. If you imagine being a very low mood or stuck energy and that being -10 on the scale of emotions I would like you to finish with positive emotions, moving in the session up the scale and by the end of your time with me to have healthy energy flow and be aiming for +10. After a single session, you will be able to use this technique yourself and can continue your sessions to improve your feelings of well-being and explore your emotions further.
I loved my EFT training! I found it really hard to describe how it made me feel. It made me think of things I hadn’t thought of the start of the set of tapping and turning it into something positive.
I told a friend I was off to the New Forest to learn EFT and his response was “more of your hippy tree-hugging stuff, it’s not for me”. Such cynicism made me wonder if people would be nervous or critical of the idea of tapping energy points, however, the response has been positive.
I believe in what I do, I have to or I wouldn’t do it as for me it is part of a new lifestyle choice. I love EFT as an option for my own boy when we need to calm it down a bit when there is a stress before school in the morning, or because its Sports Day and the anxiety is high, or because he is worried about something. Now we have practiced together we can quietly go through some sets anywhere and I see the difference in him and sometimes he now asks to tap as he feels the calming benefits.
A reason to love EFT all on its own! Who doesn’t need an extra in the parent toolkit?!
